Shelton speaks the truth...
According to my ringside stopwatch, Nolan submitted his opponent with a head and arm guillotine choke from the underside of the half guard in 38 seconds (though I believe the official timekeeper had it closer to 40). Early in the first round, Nolan's opponent attempted a takedown. Nolan sprawled to defend, forcing his opponent to go for a high crotch in an attempt to slam Nolan. Nolan based out to avoid the slam, and secured a head and arm hold and the half guard as he was taken to the mat. Despite the assurances of the opposing corner, who said that "he can't tap you from there; just wait until he gets tired," Nolan submitted his opponent with a fiercely applied guillotine.
Congratulations to Nolan, who trained very hard for this fight and continues to make us all proud with his performance both inside and outside of the ring.
Aloha, Jim McRae

Nolan was relaxed, confident and in shape, and truthfully in my mind, he already won by agreeing to lay it on the line in the ring. The bell rings and they both sort of walk toward each other with hands up. Nolan throws a straight 1-2 and enters into the clinch where he continues to throw a few uppercuts with a half plum on. The guy changes levels and Nolan does a half sprawl to stop the tackle but the guy still has a good grip on Nolan's legs. It looked to me like Nolan was setting up the anaconda but couldn't sprawl at that point so he switches to head/arm guillotine as the guy picks him up in the air with a straight up high crotch. When the guy turns him sideways in the air the crowd oohed in anticipation of the slam, but the turning motion actually made the guillotine tighter so the guy ends up sort of falling to his knees with Nolan underneath. So Nolan is still under the chin and he locks up the guys right leg in a halfguard. The guy tries to push the half guard off as Nolan rolls onto his left side and lets the dude fall deeper in the hole. Nolan then resets the half guard a little higher and stretches him for the tap. Dude had the eggplant face! I am so proud of Nolan and of the JKDU family who all stepped in to get him ready. Train true, Creighton

It was AWESOME!
I too was worried about the possible slam, he got Nolan up pretty high, and I thought we were gonna see some Pro Wrestling action!, but then Nolan is the man and nipped that in the bud.
All I remember is us getting all excited, because our man Nolan kicked butt!

No, you can't attack me that way. If you do, my technique won't work. Now do it again, and this time, do it right.

Thank you all so very much for helping me live out a fantasy. Truth be told i think it has always just been a fantasy of mine to fight in the middle of a ring on an actual pro fight card. I never trully believed i would ever get to do it, but last night i was able to live out a fantasy and i have all of you to thank for it. First of all i want to thank burton for being an absolute god send and taking me into his school and teaching me how to be not only a fighter, but a good human being. i think the greatest thing i have ever taken away from the classroom is that i know that i am being trained by first class individual and i constantly strive to carry myself in the same way. Thank you burton for believing in me and giving me this opportunity. Also huge mahalos to creighton, jim, and shelton for sacrificing of themselves to help train me and be there for me when i really needed them the most. having creighton and jim in the back with me was all i needed for this fight because they made sure i was prepared and well equipped going into this fight. (ps, good thing i didnt have to fight too long cuz i really had to pee! and like jim said, i dunno what woulda happened had i needed to go north south!) thank you guys for sacrificing your time to be there with me and to really make me comfortable. Major grattitude goes out to our whole jkd team for sacrificing of yourselves to help me train and get me prepared for this. i cannot thank you all enough for giving of yourselves to help me and also for your support! i know some of you may remember that a few weeks ago i was not feeling all that confident, and quite frankly felt like i may be a lamb being led to slaughter. but because of all you encouraging me and talking with me and looking me in the eyes, telling me that i could do it and that you were all behind me, i trully turned a corner and walked into this fight extremely confident and relaxed. i never thought that i would be able to stay that calm and confident, and was waiting for that nervousness to kick in high gear. but it didnt really happen, and the way the match turned out i'm glad it didn't! Thank you molly for taking me under your wing and blessing me with your words of encouragement and your experience in the ring. To have a fighter of your caliber and experience tell me that you believe in me and give me the encouragement you did really meant a lot to me. and thanks for going to the weigh ins with me because that was intimidating as hell! you being there made it all better, so thank you again! being a part of this jkd family has trully changed my life for the better, and i thank god every day that you all found me and accepted me into this amazing group. i know this sounds sappy and corny, but thank you to all of you, trully, for helping a guy live out a fantasy. Nolan

" i think it has always just been a fantasy of mine to fight in the middle of a ring" THAT"S YOUR FANTASY???? Mine involves a set of mid-twenties Korean twins in leather on a deserted island. Now that a FANTASY. Having someone hit you for fun while a bunch of people watch is a nightmare..... ummm, unless it's two mid-twenties Korean twins in leather with satin pillows and me having a pillow fight.

What the @#*% was that? Nolan you suck, I am pissed . I paid $39 entrance fee to see 38 seconds of you in the ring. I want my money back. The way I see it it's more than $1 per second, it's $3,600 per hour, I don't pay my attorney that much. And you all know I work (almost) hard for my money, I will let you know that I had to interview a lot of bikini models to earn that $39. In all seriousness, Nolan you were AWESOME, you should have seen us in the stands, I hope you heard the screaming (Scott sounded like a schoolgirl at a Beatles concert). Thank you also for allowing the guy to take you down right next to our seats, I am sure you did that on purpose too. We saw the guillotine much better from where we were. That was a beautiful victory Nolan, you were relaxed and focused. We are all proud of you... BRAVO. Shelt, I am with you on the whole "fantasy" stuff, bring the pillows, I'll bring the "contestants" . I think Nols got slammed too hard on his head to consider rolling around with a sweaty dude a fantasy.
