What are the differences between these and actionflex?  Are the better?  Are they the same?

I have used both the AF and the SMAK-Stiks.  The main difference is that the SMAK-Stiks will maintane its rigidness even while performing blocks.  The AF typically bends during impact thus letting the strike through.  Bsically, the SMAK-Stik feels more like the real thing.  Also, the SMAK-Stiks use ballistic nylon for their outer shell, I think they are the only ones that do.  This stuff is almost impossible to rip.   I've had my SMAK-Stiks for a few months now and they're still holding up strong.

My 2 cents

I see that the online shop does not feature sticks at this time.  Moreover, http://www.smakstiks.com/ now leads to a page in Japanese about a cosmetic surgery clinic!

Any plans to restock the JKDU sticks?  Any leads on where to buy smakstiks?  If not, what can you recommend as the next best thing?  Actionflex?  Dog Brothers "stiff" Actionflex? Sof-stx?

Finally what is the recommended length? 28" or 31" ?

Please advise,

Hi Garth,
Thanks for the heads up about smakstiks. I have a friend going to the Philippines shortly. I will see if he can bring sticks back. I have not tried the "stiff" actionflex soft sticks, so I don't know. The regular ones are too pliable.
Thanks

The Stiffer and "more stiff" Actionflex sticks are much better.
They also hurt more
Keep in mind that you can break fingers and noses with them (guess how I know!)

I got caught right on my Thumbnail with one and it was numb for a few days and the nail turned black.

The Action Flex HIT series are more rigid and yes, they do hit harder.  I usually have people start out with the original Action flex, then Smakstiks, then the HIT sticks.  All this with limited protective gear.  Head, hands and shin.
