Ok, so I have to admit that I'm wasting some time on youtube and this guy has gotten under my skin a bit. I know I should just let it go, but what can I say, I have some extra time on my hands and sadly, I watch some of this crap and read the comments. All that being said, this guy has written some horrible things about GB and his "JKD," saying that our sparring is horrible etc, etc. I tried to politely respond to one of his comments about a year ago and he called me some nasty names, so I got sucked into an internet argument. Embarrassing, I know. So the point of all this is he FINALLY put up a clip of some of his sparring. According to the comments, it's some of his younger students, as well as himself, and he'll post more of his senior students later. But here it is. JunFanJimi aka theawakener7 has put up some clips of him sparring. Check it out. Apparently, this is "true" JKD.

HAHAHAHA he'd be in the beginners with me yelling at him "HANDS UP, THAT'S NOT HANDS UP,HANDS UP" imagine all the hilarious comments I'd make through a class session.....think he might get offended? I'd get fired by Sarah so fast LOL!

Is he adhering to Jun Fan? no one had a rear hand at all.
I can't believe that guy gets paid to teach that stuff... that will get people mauled who don't follow the same rules they do in the gym.
Walker...sucked into an internet argument. haha.

Don't feel bad, I also have spent some time checking it out. The bright side is - he will validate what GB teaches even more. And the more we watch his stuff the more it reinforces our belief in what we are learning & APPLYING! (So it is not a waste of time)
He claims that JKD is not for Combat Sports, but for the street only, due to rules ect. What would you call those sparring sessions? I hope not for the street.
I would not waste time commenting or having a pissing contest with him, because his mind is made up & i think he just likes arguing.

Hi everyone...its been a while for me anyway. I just trained with Ozzy several hours ago and we worked some boxing technique and foot work and head movement and immediately applied it to sparring (games). It just confuses me beyond belief that some one teaches people that stuff.
Theres no fear in those students. I understand that when we train we are supposed to have a little bit of fun (because to us, training is fun) But when thinking about fighting to defend yourself, there has to be a certain level of fear. One thing we are taught (and I'm sure others will back me up on this) is that when we are put into or find ourselves in a street situation we have less than moments to prepare. that's why we drill against resisting opponents, to be prepared. I'm not going to stand in front of some dude and line up my straight jab just perfectly...or square off with the guy and hit him with one or two quick backfists...more than likely that will just piss the person off more than he was before, and land you in more trouble.
The knife sparring scared me....If someone was coming at me with a knife, regardless if I was armed also, I would be moving all over the place and as far away from that blade as I can get myself. ever since I saw the shockknife video GB put up, I try to treat the plastic knives like real ones. It helps! But those guys... They practically stood there and let themselves get hit.
I'm very happy with this program and I pray that none of those students get involved in a serious street situation...the results could be dire.

I didn't see this originally, but towards the end, there is some clinch, ground, and finally, some knife sparring. Amazing.

Yeah, I posted before I saw your post Germxman. The whole thing scared me. Like you said, I really hope those guys don't ever have to actually defend themselves against anyone, much less a skilled opponent. Could be pretty bad and someone will probably get hurt.

It reminded me off my old days of point sparring in TKD. Hands down, one quick blow and start over... most points wins!! except in real life, that will probably get u disfigured (WAIT!!! DONT HIT ME! I WASNT READY!!!)
Everything has its place. Philosophy is a wonderful thing, but if it is not applied in real life, its just empty words on a page or in this case, coming out of some guys mouth.
We're always gonna have haters. Let em talk... as Kevin said, some people just life arguing. lol.
good stuff!

Hey Walker, Any idea what the guy's background is? Or is he just another 'I read the Tao of Jeet Kune Do' sifu? So many things to pick at with that video, and the other one you recently posted of him. Cheers! Patrick
