Not sure if someone posted this video before.
My comment is: If you are a law enforcement officer and plan on capturing a guy that is holding a knife, please do not rush into him, the same way you wouldnt rush into a tiger cornered on an halley!

I'm not sure whether that's shear ignorance of the lethality factors involved or just incredible bravery when tasked with their duties.  But if you can't carry a firearm and your duty is to intervene, you'd think those guys would at least be smart enough grab some shields (riot shields, trash cans, etc) and mash the dude into a barrier ala a Cell Extraction Team.

I'm inclined to lean towards ignorance and group-think....

I agree with Ryan. How absurd. 30 minutes of actual training against a resisting opponent would reveal the dangers of dealing with a knife. Maybe too much demo training.

My Teacher is a Trainer with the LEO here.
He teaches an "Edged Weapons AWARENESS Course".
It isn't pitched as a Knife defense course, or How to Disarm someone that has a knife...

How interesting. I have an LEO course with the exact same name. I'm glad he is doing that, as awareness of what a knife can do is the first step to dealing with it.
