I'm sorry... Maybe I am going to chock some, but since I am not american, I have the advantage of not knowing so well this Dr. Jerry, so I read the article with no pre concept regarding him or the reading. And let me say his top ten effective martial arts... Reading it, I ended up feeling that he missed some shots, there. Arnis is a too wider definition, that can refer to some good filipino systems, or some bad (they exist, also). Even good systems, trained in the wrong way, can end up being worst then not so good systems at first, trained the right way (for self defense purposes, of course, wish is the topic of the article). Sorry to say, 100 fights of kyokushin make you hard, doesnt necessarly make you prepared to survive in the streets. The knife defenses tought in most krav maga systems are not the best in the field, IMHO. Kano Jiu Jitsu is trained in a way any effective system becomes ineffective. Most traditional ju Jitsu schools dont spar, dont pressure test techniques, so they play soccer very well, with no ball.
I am not going to analise the rest, but I will refer to the idea that Burton and us should feel proud of this person's compliment.
Again, I urge you to forgive me if I am looking at this the wrong way, but for me Dr.Jerry "recognition" of Burton Richardson's JKD Unlimited is like watching a duck analysing an eagle's method of flying... (no offense here, just my thougts...)
