Hard to believe, isn't it? You would think that the crowd, the coaches, the referees, SOMEBODY would stop those types of fights. But this is the norm for stick tournaments. They need to go back to rattan.

At our Unlimited Festival of this year (12 and 13 May) we are going to have, along side with free workshops, and demonstrations, 3 tournaments:
Amateur MMA Tournament
No time limit and no points, submission only grappling GI and No GI tournament (first ever in Portugal)
Stickfighting tournament (also first ever in Portugal)

The rules we are preparing are pretty much similar to the rules used by Hernan's group, at Argentina, with some changes, and one of them is that once you get hit three times on the head, during a match, you will imediately loose the fight.
I think this tournament will be very similar to our Battefield Kali sparring rounds... I'll keep you updated and video record the all thing, hopefuly! Smile

I kept looking for the pinata, yet it was nowhere to be found!  It was like Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots with sticks.

Looks a lot like my son and his friends battling with the pool noodle lightsabers I made for them for his 6th birthday party.  Except the kids actually fall down and play dead when they get hit.  Smile  Nothing wrong with combat adapted for sport, but as someone else posted, how do you score this?  Why aren't they making any attempts to NOT get hit while they are attacking?  I get the whole idea that "no one wins a knife fight" and "you're going to get cut", but this just doesn't seem productive even in a sportive sense.

Easy! I would say they are both losers!  Laughing Sad, but true!

Cheers!

i use the same idea luis for soft stick sparring so people dont start hitting each others in a fanning way , its just useless to spar this way  and it even look a bit stupid i find and i guess guys that dont train in weaponery find the same
