Burton what were the 8 phases or drills that Igan Enoue gave/showed you that made your BJJ game improve?

Great question!

The 8 training stages are really the basic positions for grappling.  What we did was to drill (spar) starting in each of the eight basic positions.  This way, your basics become very strong in any position you find yourself in.  These are:
1 Guard
2 Half-guard
3 Side control
4 Knee on Stomach
5 North South
6 Mount
7 Half-mount
8 Back

We now do several variations of the back, along with other variations when the person is turtled up, such as head and arm, etc.  There are also many transitional positions, and submission positions too, but if you work those eight basics regularly along with your free sparring, you will improve very rapidly, and you won't have any holes in your game.  Aloha!

You're welcome Yuri.  We are here to help everyone improve their fighting skills.  I know it will help anyone who does it.
