All of our instructors have to pass a rigorous test requiring sparring in all the ranges (see youtube clip below!). After proving their fighting skills, they also have to show good teaching skills and represent our association in a proper manner. All certificates are valid one year only to ensure that our instructors are always striving to improve themselves.
Names listed on page 2 are for certified instructors currently affiliated and in good standing with JKD Unlimited/MMA For Street Self Defense.
The role of an instructor is primarily to teach and share the JKD Unlimited/MMA For Street Self Defense curriculum with as many students as possible. Instructors help us spread our way of realistic training in a fun and relaxed atmosphere so that we can help more people enjoy a higher quality of training and a higher quality of life.
Everyone who benefits from our curriculum, which has taken Burton Richardson decades to develop, must show their commitment by being a member of our association. The goal is to have more members, and ultimately more instructors so that we can help a higher number of people.
It is the role of each instructor to uphold our standards for quality and to enforce the rules of our association.
It is the role of each instructor to continue training and stay up to date with the latest development in the JKD Unlimited/MMA For Street Self Defense curriculum.
It is the role of each instructor to behave respecfully and to honor the leadership position that their title gives them.
