The Illusrisimo Sansibar Premium Trainer is a tribute to one of Tatang Ilustrisimo’s favorite swords and is branded with the famous fighting family name “ILUSTRISIMO” cut out on the side of the blade. The perfect finishing touch to honor Tatang.
This aluminum trainer was designed by Burton Richardson (who was certified by Tatang himself in the Philippines in 1994) and was realized by training blade smith extraordinaire Brian Rideout. After several prototypes, the sword has just the shape, feel, and balance Burton wanted.
There are 2 versions of the Ilustrisimo Sansibar to choose from. Both are 27 3/4“ long.
- natural matte finish: black para cord wrapped handle
- mirror polished finish: red para cord wrapped handle (costs an extra $20)
Burton used the mirror polished version when shooting the Tatang’s Living Art of Kalis Ilustrisimo instructor certification program.
Each blade is made individually when ordered, so please give us a couple weeks to have your Ilustrisimo Sansibar trainer(s) ready and shipped. It will be worth the wait!

Kicking Shield

The I&I Sports Curved Shield features a new, heavy-duty reinforced cut resistant shell and a thick, high-density, closed-cell foam core. The new outer shell resists tears, rips and weathering and will hold its shape! The new, high-density foam core provides even greater resistance and impact absorption but without the 'bounce'.

Padded Stick Kali & Eskrima

A solid core of Filipino fire-hardened rattan is covered with dense closed cell foam sleeve and encased in a heavy, tear-resistant polyester cover. The 7/8 inch thick handle is hand-wrapped with non-slip textured tape (similar to a tennis racket) to provide a sure-grip under any condition. The tip is padded for added safety and the grip end is equipped with a non-removable rubber butt cap. Approx. 1.15 inch in diameter and 28 inch overall with an 8 in handle.
